11-DAYS: HIGHLIGHTS HOLY LAND FOOTSTEPS OF OUR LORD

Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and meet up with our tour guide and manager. Board our private motor coach for the journey to Nazareth, where we will celebrate the Mass of the Arrival of Pilgrims in the Holy Land and enjoy a welcome dinner in our hotel. Overnight in Nazareth. D

Walk to the Basilica of the Annunciation and visit the Grotto of the Incarnation of Our Lord. (Luke 1:26–38) We will celebrate the Mass of the Annunciation in the upper Basilica. See the adjacent Church of St. Joseph, built over the house of the Holy Family. (Luke 2:51-52) After lunch, drive to the foot of Mount Tabor and transfer to smaller minivans to climb the mountain to the Church of the Transfiguration. (Matt 17:1-8, Luke 9:28-36) Dinner & overnight in Nazareth. B, L, D

Drive to Cana of Galilee to visit the Wedding Church, where Our Lord performed His first public miracle. (John 2:1-11) Married couples will have a chance to renew their wedding vows here. Travel to Sepphoris, the birthplace of Our Lady. After lunch, drive to Mount Carmel to visit Stella Maris monastery & Cave of Holy Elias the Prophet on the northern end, and Muhraka Monastery, the Place of Burning and the site of Elias’ Sacrifice on the southern end. (3 Kings 18) Dinner & overnight in Nazareth. B, L, D

Celebrate Mass on the Mountain of the Beatitudes, where Our Lord delivered the Sermon on the Mount. (Matt 5-7) After Mass, drive north to Caesarea Philippi, where Our Lord asked His disciples, Whom do men say that I AM? (Matt 16:13-20) After lunch, drive back to the Sea of Galilee and visit Tabgha, the site of the multiplication of loaves and fishes. (John 6:1-14) Next door, we will visit the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, where Our Lord appeared to the disciples after the Resurrection. (John 21) Dinner & last night in Nazareth. B, L, D

This morning we check out of our hotel in Nazareth and drive to Capharnaum, the headquarters of Our Lord’s Galilean ministry. Visit the church built above the House of St. Peter, as well as the ruins of the Synagogue where Our Lord delivered the Bread of Life Discourse. (John 6) After lunch, visit an ancient boat from the time of Our Lord and take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, before driving south, up to the hill country of Judea. As we climb the mountains to Jerusalem, we will chant the Gradual Psalms (Ps.119-133). We will stop in Ein Karem at the Church of the Visitation (Luke 1:39-56) to celebrate Mass before arriving in Jerusalem at our hotel at the Notre Dame Center. Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem. B, L, D

Journey to Bethlehem to celebrate Mass in Shepherds’ Fields, where the Angels announced the Birth of Our Lord to the shepherds (Luke 2:1-7). Visit the local Christian store for religious goods and olive wood carvings. Venerate the spot where Our Lord was born in the Basilica & Grotto of the Nativity, as well as the adjacent Basilica of St. Catherine, Grotto of St. Joseph, and Grotto of St. Jerome where he produced the Latin Vulgate translation of Holy Scriptures in the 4th century. Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem. B, L, D

Drive to the top of the Mount of Olives to view the Old City of Jerusalem. Visit the Church of Eleona (Pater noster, Luke 11), walk the Palm Sunday Road down the mountain (Matt. 21:1-11) to visit the Church of Dominus flevit for Mass, where Our Lord wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41-44). Continue the walk down the mountain the bottom to venerate the Rock of Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26:36-56). After lunch, visit Mount Sion, Dormition Abbey where the Blessed Mother ended her earthly life, and the Upper Room (Holy Cenacle). End the day at St. Peter in Gallicantu, where Our Lord was imprisoned the night before He died, and the cock crowed at the Denial of Peter. Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem. B, L, D

Early morning Via Dolorosa, Stations of the Cross. End at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to venerate Mount Calvary & the Tomb of Christ. Return to the hotel for a brief rest before Mass at the Latin Patriarchate, the Cathedral of Jerusalem. Later, visit the Church of St. Anne and the Pools of Bethesda, as well as the Church of Ecce Homo. Free time in the afternoon to return to the Holy Sepulchre and pray. Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem. B, L, D

Visit the Israel Museum and a half-acre, 1:50 scale model of Jerusalem at the time of Our Lord. See the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept. Then drive to the Jordan River where Our Lord was baptized by St. John the Baptist (Mark 1:1-11), and renew our baptismal vows. Visit Jericho and view the Mount of Temptation. Celebrate the Mass of the Feast of the Holy Sepulchre at Good Shepherd Church in Jericho. After Lunch, visit Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Optional float in the Dead Sea before the trip back to Jerusalem and dinner. B, L, D

Mass of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Particular I-Class Feast) in the Chapel of Notre Dame. This Sunday will be a free day in Jerusalem for spiritual recollection & retreat, as well as revisiting the holy sites. We will have a farewell dinner and celebration in Bethlehem. Last night in Jerusalem. B, L, D
